“The Unsinkable Molly Brown” wasn’t just a hit musical, Margaret “Molly” Tobin Brown was a real-life hero of the Titanic fiasco. After assisting several other passengers to a nearby lifeboat, Brown with 20 other women, 2 men and a twelve-year-old boy on board the lifeboat were rescued by the Carpathia which had responded to the Titanic’s distress call. Once on board, Brown, an experienced world traveller and adventurer with a knowledge of several foreign languages, undertook to console fellow survivors who spoke little English. She undertook to find extra blankets and supplies to distribute to women who were sleeping in the dining room and corridors. Brown also rallied the first class passengers on board the Carpathia to donate money to now destitute women, succeding to raise $10,000 before the Carpathia reached New York. Find out more about this amazing woman at her former Denver home, now the Molly Brown House Museum.

Coors may (or may not) be the official beer of Denver, but Coors Field is the official home of MLB’s Denver Rockies. Described as a modern stadium with an old-fashioned feel, this is one of the National League’s first new parks built exclusively for baseball since 1962. And isn’t that really the way it should be?
