About The Speaker
Dr. Farley, currently responsible for the Academic Initiative Program for IBM, began his career as a Professor of Mathematics at Regis University in Denver, Colorado where he served as Department Chair before leaving to join Hewlett Packard Company.  At HP he held several managerial positions, including starting the HP education program and was named the Director, Education Marketing for Hewlett Packard.  As Director, he had worldwide responsibility for growing the use of UNIX systems in both academic and administrative computing environments.

 Phil was Director, Education Programs at Sybase where he was responsible for setting policy and strategy for Sybase’s entry into the education marketplace.  He also managed the sales activities of dedicated state/local government and education account executives in North America.

 Farley also served as Research Director, Academic Strategies for the GartnerGroup.  In this capacity he published research on the key issues facing educational institutions worldwide, presented at numerous education conferences and responded to hundreds of inquiries from Gartner’s global clients.

 He received his BS in Mathematics from Regis University, an MA in Mathematics and his Doctorate in Mathematics Education from the University of Northern Colorado.

 Phil is currently a member of the Regis University Board of Regents. Regis, a Jesuit University, is recognized as a pioneer in adult education and distributed learning.  He is also active in his community serving as Trustee of the Community Foundation of Northern Colorado, Chairing the Loveland Local Advisory Board and has served on the board of several non-profit organizations.
