John has over 30 years’ experience in IT and IT organization management, IT risk assessment, and IT cost benchmarking. He was a senior manager in the Banking and Financial Services practice at KPMG Consulting and managing director at KPMG LLP in Los Angeles, and senior vice president in charge of IT Compliance and the Program Management Office at Washington Mutual in Seattle. John’s motto is “measure to manage” – his recent work has involved encoding banking guidance and best practices on IT governance, data security and privacy of customer data, into a series of interactive questionnaires to assess inherent risk, controls effectiveness, and residual risk. Earlier this year John facilitated a series of CIO breakfast presentations and panel discussions on IT Governance.
John is a member of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association, the Association for Financial Professionals (formerly the Treasury Management Association), and the Risk Management Association. He is a past-president of the Los Angeles chapter of the Association of Information Technology Professionals.
