Topic Synopsis: Total Continuity Planning: Get Ready for Mega Disasters
Business and Government Continuity Planning are critical in a world of increasing threats and massive disasters.  Planning to prevent and recover from disasters is a critical responsibility of business and government executives.  It is not enough to plan to recover Information Technology. Essential operations, support functions, suppliers and vendors should be included in total business recovery or government continuity of operations plans. Future survivability requires total continuity planning that goes beyond organizations and jurisdictions.

Lloyd Smith provided on-site response and recovery efforts for major disasters and terrorist attacks.  He will discuss improved emergency response and business recovery capabilities required to get ready for devastating hurricanes, earthquakes, volcanoes, fires, floods, power and communication outages, pandemics and horrendous terrorist attacks.

Basic steps on how to develop continuity plans will be presented with disaster prevention and sabotage/terrorism avoidance recommendations to get ready for increasing mega threats. Utilizing years of experience and lessons learned, he will provide practical principles, encouragement and motivation on how to improve emergency response and continuity planning capabilities to better prepare business and government organizations for the “big ones”.
