Cloud Computing for Government & Education - Building a Virtual Private Cloud
Data Center consolidations are rapidly moving forward in state and local governments. One of the key initiatives often utilized is cloud computing technology to drive a shared services model and to create efficiency. Overall management of resources, energy consumption (heating, power and cooling), increased security for data and lower overall costs have all been key factors in looking at cloud models. In this session, Verizon Business will provide an overview on the enterprise direction for the Cloud Computing for government and education, and how cloud computing is being positioned for short and long term benefits.
Steve Kovac is responsible for developing the IT Services and Solutions organization for the Verizon Government and Enterprise customer segment. These services include data center Services, hosting services, managed applications, IT services and professional services. In 2007, Verizon purchased Cybertrust, making Verizon the largest managed security solutions provider on the planet. Mr. Kovac expanded his responsibilities to build and lead a team of IT and Security specialist specifically trained to meet the needs of our Government and Education customer
With more than 14 years with Verizon, Mr. Kovac has held many responsibilities from basic network services to advanced fiber optic switching and private networking. He has managed a wide range of Verizon product/service offerings encompassing Enterprise-wide premises, edge, and WAN applications as well as complementary offerings such as Professional Services, Voice/Data/Video CPE, Call Center Services, IPT and Managed Network Services. Mr. Kovac was first educated Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas and later finished his studies at University of Missouri, St. Louis. Prior to the joining the communication industry Mr. Kovac worked in the investment banking business and was an inventor and entrepreneur. He has been awarded 7 US. Patents since 1991 and is still an active design architect on several IT and related projects. |
