
About The Speaker
Gary Thuerk has been called “The Father of Spam” in recent articles in Entrepreneur Magazine and the Los Angeles Times. As a young, ambitious computer marketing manager at DEC, he sent the first unsolicited mass e-mail over the early version of the Internet in 1978.
Since that time he has worked in the IT industry for Digital Equipment Corporation for 17 years in marketing and business development. As a Strategic Accounts Manager he developed $300M of new business in 8 years. Thuerk also worked in computer sales for NCR, Xerox, Compaq, and Hewlett-Packard Company.
As an independent consultant he provided marketing and sales expertise to small technology companies.
As an evangelist for new technology Thuerk promoted the use of the ARPAnet, then the Internet and the LAN packet switching technologies. He defined and led the development of new products and services as a marketing manager and product manager. Developed and published technical sales and product brochures winning the
